7 reviews for Mesalamine (Asacol)
Asacol contains Mesalamine.
Mesalamine (also called mesalazine) is a medicine for ulcerative colitis, a condition where the lining of the large bowel becomes inflamed and forms sores.
It helps calm flare-ups and, when taken every day, helps keep the condition quiet (in remission).
What is it used for?
- Mild to moderate ulcerative colitis flare-ups
- Keeping ulcerative colitis in remission
How does it work?
Mesalamine works directly on the lining of the bowel to reduce inflammation. Special coatings release it in the part of the gut where it is needed.
