NEXPRO 40 mg is used in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease, Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD/GORD), Zollinger–Ellison syndrome. But the drug is mainly prescribed for GERD and peptic ulcer. The medicine contains the active ingredient Esomeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor. It prevents the moving back of food and acid into the esophagus as it prevents the overproduction of the gastric acid. It also gives relief from the symptoms along with the healing of the ulcers and wounds of the digestive pathway. This drug should be taken only when prescribed by the doctor /physician. This drug reduces the acid secretion in the stomach through inhibiting the hydrogen /potassium ATPase pumps in the parietal cells of the gastric walls.
