Finax contains Finasteride.

Finasteride is a medicine for male pattern hair loss (hair thinning at the top of the head and a receding hairline). The 1 mg dose is used for hair loss, while the 5 mg dose is used for an enlarged prostate.

It helps slow hair loss and can help some hair regrow. It only works while you keep taking it.

What is it used for?

Male pattern hair loss (1 mg)

How does it work?

The hormone DHT shrinks hair follicles on the scalp in men with male pattern baldness. Finasteride lowers DHT, which lets hair follicles recover.

This information is written in simple words to help you understand this product. It does not replace advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

Read these points before you start. If any of them apply to you, talk to your doctor or pharmacist first.

It is only for men. Women who are or may become pregnant should not handle broken or crushed tablets, as it can harm a male baby.
It lowers PSA levels (a prostate blood test). Tell your doctor you take it if you have a PSA test.
It may slightly raise the risk of a more serious type of prostate cancer. Report any changes.
Do not donate blood during treatment and for some months after stopping.
It is only for men. It is not for women or children.
Do not donate blood for at least 1 month after your last dose.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every other medicine, vitamin or herbal product you use.
Keep this product out of the reach and sight of children.

Like all medicines, Finax can cause side effects, but not everybody gets them.

Common side effects

Lower sex drive
Erection problems
Less semen when ejaculating
Breast tenderness or swelling

These are usually mild and often get better as your body gets used to it. Tell your doctor if they bother you or do not go away.

Stop using it and get medical help straight away if you notice:

A lump, pain or nipple discharge in the breast
Signs of an allergic reaction, such as swelling or rash
Feeling very low or having thoughts of self-harm

This is not a complete list. If you notice anything unusual, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take one tablet once a day, with or without food.
For hair loss, the dose is 1 mg once a day.
It usually takes 3 to 6 months to see a difference. If there is no benefit after 12 months, it is unlikely to work.
Swallow the tablet whole with water.

If you miss a dose: Take it as soon as you remember the same day. Never take two doses at once.

If you use too much: Contact your doctor, a poison control centre or your local emergency number straight away, even if you feel fine. Take the pack with you.

How to store it: Keep it in its original pack at room temperature (below 25°C / 77°F), away from heat, damp and direct sunlight. Do not use it after the expiry date.

How long does Finax take to work?: It can take 3 to 6 months to see an improvement in urine flow, and it keeps working as long as you take it.
Will Finax affect my sex life?: A small number of men notice lower sex drive or erection problems. These often improve over time or after stopping.
Can women take or touch Finax?: Women should not take it. Women who are or may become pregnant should not handle crushed or broken tablets, as the medicine can be absorbed through the skin and harm a male baby.
What happens if I stop Finax for hair loss?: The hair you gained or kept will usually be lost within about 12 months.
