5 reviews for Fludrocortisone (Florinef)
Florinef contains Fludrocortisone.
Fludrocortisone is a steroid hormone that helps the body hold on to salt and water. It replaces a hormone called aldosterone in people whose adrenal glands do not make enough.
It is also used for low blood pressure when standing up (postural hypotension).
What is it used for?
- Addison's disease (adrenal insufficiency), with hydrocortisone
- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (salt-losing form)
- Low blood pressure on standing (off-label)
How does it work?
Fludrocortisone acts on the kidneys to keep sodium and water in the body, which raises blood volume and blood pressure.
