Mesacol OD 1200 mg

Mesacol OD for oral administration is an extended-release formulation of mesalamine, an aminosalicylate anti-inflammatory agent for gastrointestinal use. Each tablet contains 1200 mg of mesalamine. It is prescribed to treat mild to moderately active ulcerative colitis (a condition that causes inflammation and ulcers in the linings of your large intestines) and to maintain the remission of ulcerative colitis. This can lead to frequent diarrhoea, bleeding and abdominal pain. Mesalamine stops the function of certain substances that may cause inflammation; it suppresses the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that cause inflammation in the intestines. This reduces ulcers, bleeding and stomach pain and prevents future disease flare-ups. It should only be used after consulting a doctor in doses and duration as prescribed by your doctor.
