Rapilin 1 mg is an oral blood-glucose-lowering drug of the meglitinide class, which is used to manage Type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults. Repaglinide, the active ingredient, lowers blood glucose by stimulating insulin release from the pancreas. Type 2 diabetes is a disease where your pancreas does not make enough insulin to control blood sugar, or sometimes your body does not normally respond to the insulin produced. Rapilin is prescribed to control Type 2 diabetes in adults as an add-on to diet and exercise. This antidiabetic treatment is usually started if diet, exercise, and weight reduction alone cannot control your blood sugar. Repaglinide can also be given with metformin, another antidiabetic medicine.
