Reducing the viral load and increasing the CD4 (T) cell count may improve your immune system. This may cause a significant reduction in the risk of death or infections associated with a weak immune system. Rivofonet does not cure HIV infections or AIDS; people taking this antiviral medication may still develop illnesses and infections associated with HIV infection. Patients must continue treatment to control infection and decrease HIV-related complications. It is very important to follow HIV therapy under medical supervision. It is unknown if the HIV medication is safe and effective for treating HIV-1 infection in children under two years.
