Tamtero 20 mg is a prescription medicine that is like estrogen (female hormone). In the breast, it can block estrogen’s effect. Tamtero contains the active ingredient Tamoxifen, which may block the growth of breast cancer cancers that require estrogen hormone to grow. Tamoxifen can reduce the chance of getting breast cancer in women with a higher-than-normal risk of getting breast cancer in the next five years. It helps to lower the chance of spreading breast cancer in females who have undergone surgery and radiation for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). DCIS is a type of cancer that is only inside the milk ducts. Tamtero 20 mg is also given to treat breast cancer in females after they have finished early treatment, which can involve radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy. It may also lower the risk of women getting new breast cancer. Tamoxifen is used in men and women to treat carcinoma of the breast that has spread to other parts of the body.
