Valcoveer tablets can also be given for chronic suppressive therapy of recurrent episodes of genital herpes in immunocompetent and HIV-infected individuals. The drug’s effectiveness for suppressing genital herpes beyond a year in immunocompetent patients and beyond six months in HIV-infected individuals has not been established. The medicine is extremely effective at reducing of transmission of genital herpes in adults. However, safer sex practices should be used with suppressive therapy. Valcoveer is a generic version of Valtrex. This Valtrex generic does not cure the problem but helps reduce symptoms such as pain or itching and decreases the severity of the medication. Valacyclovir works to prevent the multiplication of viruses in human cells and eliminate the infection. It does not prevent you from spreading the virus to others.
