10 reviews for Methotrexate
Methotrexate is a medicine used in low doses, taken once a week, for rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and some other conditions. In much higher doses, it is used to treat some cancers.
For arthritis and psoriasis it is taken ONCE A WEEK, not every day. Taking it every day by mistake can be fatal.
What is it used for?
- Rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis
- Severe psoriasis
- Crohn's disease
- Some cancers (higher doses, in hospital)
How does it work?
In low doses, methotrexate calms the overactive immune system that causes inflammation in joints and skin. In high doses, it stops cancer cells from dividing.
