4 reviews for Pyridostigmine (Mestinon)
Mestinon contains Pyridostigmine.
Pyridostigmine is a medicine for myasthenia gravis, a condition where the immune system blocks messages between nerves and muscles, causing muscle weakness that gets worse with activity.
What is it used for?
- Myasthenia gravis
How does it work?
Nerves send messages to muscles using a chemical called acetylcholine. Pyridostigmine blocks the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, so more is available to make muscles contract.
