Drug Information
1 review for Drospirenone + Ethinyl Estradiol (Yasmin)
Yasmin is a combined contraceptive pill. It contains ethinyl estradiol (an oestrogen) and drospirenone (a progestogen). Taken every day, it prevents pregnancy.
Drospirenone may help reduce bloating and water retention, and some women find it helps with acne.
What is it used for?
- Preventing pregnancy
How does it work?
The two hormones stop the ovaries releasing an egg each month, thicken the mucus at the neck of the womb to block sperm, and thin the womb lining.

- Do not take it if you have ever had a blood clot, stroke or heart attack, have migraine with aura, very high blood pressure, certain heart or liver problems, or breast cancer.
