Nitroglycerin (also called glyceryl trinitrate or GTN) is a medicine for angina, which is chest pain caused by poor blood flow to the heart muscle.
This product (2.5 mg or 6.5 mg) is a slow-release form taken regularly to help prevent angina attacks. It is not for stopping a sudden attack. For sudden chest pain, you need a fast-acting GTN spray or tablet under the tongue, as prescribed by your doctor.
