4 reviews for Sibutramine (Slimex)
Slimex contains Sibutramine.
Sibutramine is a medicine that was used for weight loss by reducing appetite. It was withdrawn from the market in the USA, UK, EU and many other countries in 2010 because it was found to raise the risk of heart attack and stroke.
We strongly advise talking to a doctor about safer, approved weight-loss options before considering this product.
What is it used for?
- Weight loss in obesity (withdrawn in most countries due to heart risks)
How does it work?
Sibutramine increases the levels of serotonin and noradrenaline in the brain, which makes you feel full sooner and less hungry.

Like all medicines, Slimex can cause side effects, but not everybody gets them.
Common side effects
- Dry mouth
- Constipation
- Trouble sleeping

- Raised blood pressure and fast heartbeat
These are usually mild and often get better as your body gets used to it. Tell your doctor if they bother you or do not go away.

- Chest pain, a fast or uneven heartbeat
- Sudden weakness, numbness, trouble speaking or a severe headache (possible stroke)

- Only use it under medical supervision, if at all.
- The usual dose in the past was 10 mg once a day in the morning.
- Blood pressure and heart rate must be checked regularly.
If you miss a dose: Skip the missed dose. Never take two doses at once.
If you use too much: Contact your doctor, a poison control centre or your local emergency number straight away, even if you feel fine. Take the pack with you.
